How to Clean Oily Floors with a Floor Scrubber
Oil-stained floors in kitchens, garages, and industrial areas are not only unhygienic but also dangerously slippery, making them a challenging problem to address during cleaning. However, when used correctly, floor scrubbers can effectively resolve this issue. This guide covers the essential steps for preparation, cleaning, and maintenance.
Choose the Right Cleaning Solution
The right cleaning solution is essential for tackling oily floors. For mild to moderate oil stains, a general-purpose degreaser with surfactants works effectively. Surfactants reduce water surface tension and break down oil into washable droplets. For heavy oil buildup, use a heavy-duty degreaser containing solvents or emulsifiers. Solvents dissolve the oil, while emulsifiers turn it into an easily washable emulsion. Always ensure proper ventilation when working with solvent-based products.

Prepare the Floor Scrubber
Before using the manual floor scrubber, perform a thorough inspection. Clean the water tank and solution tank, then add degreaser to the solution tank as instructed in the user manual. For oily floors, use stiffer brushes or pads and ensure they are properly installed and in good condition. Additionally, check that the suction system-including hoses and motors-is functioning correctly to effectively remove wastewater.
Pre - treatment (if needed)
For thicker or longer lasting oil stains, you need to apply concentrated degreaser and let it stand for 5-10 minutes. Then, before using the floor scrubber, use a hard bristled brush to scrub the area.

Operate the Floor Scrubber
Start the floor scrubber and adjust the settings based on the type of floor and the severity of the oil stains. Set a higher water flow rate to help flush away dissolved oil. Adjust the brush or pad pressure accordingly: use higher pressure for hard surfaces like concrete and lower pressure for more delicate floors such as vinyl to prevent damage. Move the scrubber slowly when cleaning oily areas. The brush works the solution into the oil, while the suction system removes the dirty mixture. Clean large areas section by section, paying special attention to corners and edges.
Rinse Thoroughly
After the initial cleaning, fill the clean water tank with clean water, and then run the washer again with the solution flowing out. Rinse off the remaining solution and oil residue to ensure the floor is clean.
Clean the Tanks
After cleaning the floor, please immediately empty the sewage tank to prevent bacterial growth. Clean dirty water and water tanks with warm soapy water to avoid affecting future performance.

Maintain the Brushes or Pads
Remove and inspect whether the electric brush or gasket is damaged. If the brush is dirty, clean it with warm soapy water; If the brush is severely damaged, please replace it with a new one.
Dry the Scrubber
Wipe the exterior of the scrubber dry, and ensure that all electrical components are completely dry before storage to prevent malfunctions.
By following these steps, you can effectively clean oily floors, maintain a safe and hygienic environment, and extend the lifespan of your floor scrubber.
