The water absorbing rubber strip is the "invisible core component" of a floor scrubber and one of its key consumables. This strip, which runs along the floor, may seem simple, but it directly determines the machine's water absorption performance and how dry the floor is after cleaning.
Many users tend to overlook its importance until obvious water streaks or sewage backflow appear, only then realizing the issue.
In fact, there are clear signals that indicate when the strip should be replaced, and the replacement process does not require professional tools-ordinary operators can complete it easily.

1. Three-Step Judgment: When to Replace the Rubber Strip
Wear on the absorbent strip is a gradual process. Early damage is not easy to notice, but as wear increases, the machine's water absorption quietly declines.
When the following three signs appear, it means the strip must be replaced. Do not wait until it completely fails, as this may cause sewage to seep into the equipment, potentially damaging the motor or battery.
1) Residual Water Marks on the Floor: From "Local" to "Continuous"
When operating normally, the scrubber should leave the floor "instantly dry." A tissue wiped across the cleaned surface should show no visible moisture.
If the following situations occur, it means the strip can no longer tightly seal to the floor and has been damaged:
Local water marks: A 1–2 cm-wide streak appears along the edge of the strip. This is usually caused by localized wear, leaving gaps during suction.
Continuous water marks: Large areas of damp floor remain after cleaning. This may be due to overall strip aging (loss of elasticity, unable to stick to the ground) or a loose connection between the strip and the bracket, dispersing suction force.
Repeated water marks: Even after cleaning the same area 2–3 times, water streaks remain. If the suction motor is running normally, this strongly indicates severe strip wear (e.g., thinning in the middle, forming a depression).

Stain clogging: The gap between the strip and scraper easily traps hair, mud, and other debris. If not cleaned promptly, these deposits deform the strip (e.g., creating depressions where hair remains entangled). Though subtle, such "hidden deformation" reduces water absorption performance.

3) Service Life: Replace According to Usage Scenarios
As a key consumable, absorbent strips must be replaced regularly depending on usage environment-even if no visible issues are present. Their lifespan is influenced by material quality, usage frequency, and working conditions. Prolonged compression gradually reduces elasticity, especially under heavy use or harsh environments.
Recommended replacement cycles:

Heavy-duty scenarios (factories, warehouses, >6 hours daily use, oil, metal shavings, cement dust): replace every 1–2 months. Oil stains not only accelerate wear but can also corrode rubber. Oil-resistant strips are recommended.
